Terms of Use
Effective October 17, 2026
In short: Just Divvy gives you tools and information, not legal, tax or financial advice. You must be 18 or older, keep your sign-in safe and enter accurate information. What you enter belongs to you. We store it and show it to the people you invite. A sheet both sides agree on in Balance Sheet, and the numbers it calculates, are not a legal agreement, a court document or a ruling. Check anything important with a qualified professional.
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and remarQable LLC ("remarQable", "we", "us" or "our"). They cover your use of:
- the Just Divvy website at justdivvy.com (the "Website");
- the worksheets, spreadsheets, checklists, guides, calculator and other resources you can use on it or download from it (the "Resources");
- the Just Divvy apps, including Balance Sheet and Ledger, and any apps we add later (the "Apps"); and
- your Just Divvy account and the emails we send you.
Together these are the "Services". Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and is part of these Terms.
By creating an account, signing in, accepting an invitation, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. Not legal, tax or financial advice
Just Divvy provides general information and tools to help you organize your own information. remarQable is not a law firm, and we are not attorneys, accountants, financial advisors, mediators or a court. Nothing in the Services is legal, tax or financial advice. Using the Services does not create an attorney-client relationship or any other professional relationship with us.
In particular:
- An agreed sheet is not a legal agreement. Marking an item or a whole sheet as agreed in Balance Sheet records what the people in that case said in the app. It is not a contract, settlement agreement, marital settlement agreement, stipulation, court order or any other legal or court document, and it does not bind anyone. Only a written agreement that meets your jurisdiction's requirements, or a court order, can do that.
- Calculations are not rulings. The equalization amount, marital values, shares, totals and summaries, in the Apps and in the Website's calculator, are arithmetic based on what users enter. They are not a determination of what anyone is legally owed. A court, mediator or agreement may divide property differently, and the figures do not account for taxes, sale costs or other consequences unless they are entered.
- Ledger balances are records, not obligations. Balances, splits and settle-up amounts in Ledger reflect what the parents entered. They do not determine child support, reimbursement duties or any other legal obligation, and they do not replace a court order or parenting agreement.
- We do not vet professionals. Attorneys, advisors, mediators and other professionals who use the Services, or whom you invite, are not our employees or agents. We do not verify their identity, licenses, qualifications or conduct, and we do not supervise or endorse the advice or services they give you.
Divorce, property and family laws vary by state and country, and every situation is different. Before making decisions, talk to a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction and, where relevant, a tax or financial professional.
2. Who can use the Services
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract to use the Services. The Services are not intended for children, and you may not create an account for a child or let a child use your account.
Some Apps or features may be available only by invitation or approval, including while they are in preview. We decide who receives access, and we may change or end preview access at any time.
3. Your account
You sign in with a link or a one-time code sent to your email address. You agree to:
- keep your sign-in secure: protect access to your email account, do not forward sign-in links, codes or invitation emails, and sign out on shared devices;
- give accurate information: use your real name and an email address you control, describe your role (for example, spouse, parent, attorney or mediator) truthfully, and keep this information current;
- use only your own account: do not share your account, use someone else's or create an account in someone else's name; and
- tell us promptly at dev@remarqable.io if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.
You are responsible for what happens under your account. We are not responsible for losses caused by someone using your sign-in links, codes or email account, unless caused by our own failure to take reasonable security measures.
4. Shared spaces and the people you invite
The Apps are built for sharing. A Balance Sheet case or a Ledger is shared by the people in it: for example, the other spouse or parent, and any attorney, advisor or mediator added to it. Everything in a shared space, including entries, notes, receipts and the history of changes, can be seen by everyone in it, as the App's permissions allow.
- Invite only people you intend to share that information with, using email addresses you believe belong to them.
- When you invite a professional, you choose to share the case with them. Your relationship with them, including any fees, confidentiality and privilege, is between you and them.
- We do not verify who people are, what they enter or what they agree to. Disputes between users are between those users. We may, but are not required to, help resolve them.
- If you leave a shared space or your account is closed, the space may stay available to the other people in it, as described in section 10 and the Privacy Policy.
5. Your content
"Your Content" means the information you enter into or upload to the Services: names, email addresses, assets, debts, values, proposals, expenses, payments, notes, receipts, messages and similar material.
You own Your Content. You give remarQable a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, format, back up and display Your Content, and to send it by email, only as needed to:
- provide the Services to you and to the people you share a case or ledger with, including showing it to them and emailing them updates;
- keep the Services secure, investigate misuse, and provide support you ask for;
- comply with law and legal process; and
- improve the Services. We will not sell Your Content, use it for advertising or use it to train AI models.
This license lasts while Your Content is in the Services. It continues for content that stays in a shared space after you leave it, for as long as that space exists, and for copies in backups until they are deleted, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Your responsibilities. You promise that you have the right to enter and share Your Content, and that it does not break the law or anyone's rights. In particular:
- Other people's information. When you enter information about another person, such as your spouse, co-parent or children, enter only what the Services need, and only for the purpose of using them. Do not enter sensitive information that is not needed, such as full account numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords, or health information beyond what an expense needs (for example, "dentist" rather than a diagnosis).
- Receipts and files. Upload only receipts and documents you are entitled to share. Remove or cover information that is not needed, such as full card numbers. Do not upload files that contain malware or that are not what they claim to be.
- Accuracy. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter. Other users may rely on it.
We do not review Your Content before it is posted, but we may remove content or restrict access to it if we believe it breaks these Terms or the law.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Services for anything unlawful, or to harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate or abuse anyone;
- use invitations, emails or settle-up requests to contact people who do not want to hear from you, or send them in bulk;
- impersonate anyone, misstate your role or professional status, or enter information you know is false;
- gain or try to gain access to accounts, cases, ledgers or data that are not yours, or get around any access limit, including invite-only access;
- probe, scan or test the Services for vulnerabilities without our written permission, or interfere with, overload or disrupt them;
- scrape, copy in bulk, reverse engineer or decompile the Services, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
- upload viruses or other harmful code; or
- resell the Services or use them to build a competing product.
If you find a security issue, please report it to dev@remarqable.io.
7. Using the Resources
The Resources are free. You may download, fill in, print and copy them for your own personal, non-commercial use, including sharing your completed copies with your spouse or partner, attorney, mediator, financial advisor or a court. Professionals such as attorneys, mediators and financial advisors may give them to their own clients free of charge.
Without our written permission, you may not sell, license or charge for the Resources or include them in a paid product or service; republish or redistribute them, changed or unchanged, on another website or as your own; or remove the Just Divvy name, notices or disclaimers from them.
The spreadsheet and PDF worksheets work on your own device. We do not receive, see or store what you type into them. If you use the Google Sheets version, your copy is saved in your own Google account and Google's terms apply. You are responsible for keeping your completed files safe and private. The calculator and the checklists on the Website also run in your browser: we do not receive what you type into the calculator, and checklist ticks are kept only in your browser.
8. Previews, prices and changes to the Services
The Services are offered free of charge at present, and Ledger will remain free of charge. If we introduce fees for any other App or feature, we will tell you before they apply, and you will not be charged unless you agree.
Some Apps and features are offered as previews. They may have errors, change significantly or be withdrawn. Features described as "coming soon" are plans, not promises.
We may add, change, suspend or stop any part of the Services. If we stop offering an App you use, we will give you reasonable notice where we can, so that you can download your information first.
9. Third-party services
The Services use or link to services run by others, such as Google Sheets, Plausible Analytics, Formspree, Userback, Mailgun and DigitalOcean. We are not responsible for their content or practices, and their own terms and policies apply to your use of them.
10. Suspension and closing accounts
Closing your account. You can stop using the Services at any time. To close your account, email dev@remarqable.io from the address on the account, and we will close it for you.
Our right to suspend or close. We may suspend, restrict or close your account, or remove you from a case or ledger, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that you have broken these Terms, that your use creates risk or possible legal exposure for us or other users, or that we are required to by law. Where appropriate and lawful, we will tell you why. We may also close accounts that have been inactive for a long time after notifying you by email.
What happens to your data. When an account is closed:
- for each case or ledger you share with someone else, we either delete it or keep it for the other people in it. If it is kept, your side, your name and the entries and history you contributed stay in it for them;
- cases and ledgers that only you use are deleted;
- copies in our backups are deleted on the backup schedule described in the Privacy Policy; and
- we may keep information where the law requires it, or where it is needed to resolve disputes, enforce these Terms or prevent fraud or abuse.
Sections 1, 5 (for content kept after you leave), 7 to 9 (as applicable) and 11 to 17 survive the end of this agreement.
11. Intellectual property and feedback
The Services, including the Just Divvy name, logo, software, design, text and Resources, belong to remarQable LLC and its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. Apart from the rights in these Terms, all rights are reserved. You may not use the Just Divvy name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse or are affiliated with you without our written consent.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without any obligation to you.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, remarQable LLC disclaims all warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that calculations will be correct for your situation, or that data will never be lost. Keep your own copies of important information. You can download Ledger reports and print Balance Sheet summaries for this purpose.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties to be excluded, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, remarQable LLC and its members, officers, employees and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of money, property, profits, goodwill or data, arising out of or related to the Services, Your Content, the conduct of other users or professionals, or any decision you make based on the Services, even if we were told such damages were possible.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims arising out of or related to the Services or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Services in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you in full. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless remarQable LLC and its members, officers, employees and agents from any claims, damages, losses and expenses, including reasonable attorney fees, arising from Your Content, your use or misuse of the Services, your dealings with other users, or your violation of these Terms or of anyone's rights.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to conflict of law principles. Before starting a formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at dev@remarqable.io and try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. Any dispute that is not resolved will be decided exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Hennepin County, Minnesota, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court where it qualifies.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the effective date above. If a change is material, we will email account holders at the address on their account at least 30 days before it takes effect. Changes required by law, or needed to address security or misuse, may take effect sooner. If you do not agree to a change, stop using the Services and ask us to close your account before the change takes effect. If you keep using the Services after that date, the updated Terms apply to you.
17. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Services, and they replace any earlier agreements on that subject.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, that part will be enforced to the extent allowed and the rest will remain in effect.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a right or provision, we have not waived it.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our consent. We may transfer ours, for example as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, and these Terms will continue to apply.
- Events outside our control. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as outages of internet, hosting or email providers, natural disasters or acts of government.
- No third-party beneficiaries. These Terms do not give any rights to anyone other than you and us.
- Notices. We may send notices to the email address on your account, or post them on the Website. You can send notices to us at the address below.
- Headings. Section headings and the "In short" summaries are for convenience only and do not change the meaning of these Terms.
